February Events
Our theme this month will be Teddy bears & Valentines. Our vocabulary for the month is red, love, valentine, friend, hug, teddy bear, dream and button. Our concepts for the month will be in/on/under.
If you wish to send valentines with your child, instead of writing each childs names on the card just have your child sign their name on each card and they can be put in their friends' valentine bags.
Please make sure your child has appropriate winter wear, mittens, boots, hats and snow pants. We still try to go out as often as the weather permits.
Kindergarten Registration:
The Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools “Getting Ready for Kindergarten” registration and information packages are now available at our schools. If you have a child who is eligible to attend kindergarten this fall (5 years old on or before December 31, 2012) now is the time to pick up a package, fill in the forms, then come to the kindergarten registration night at your school. Please check out the link under Parent Resources or go to the school district website.

10TH Anniversary Update
Planning is well under way for our 10TH Anniversary Celebration! We are in the process of confirming a date (likely in May) for the “main event”. In the meantime, you will be hearing about some smaller events in the months between now and the end of the year. It is really exciting to gather together our “history”, so many memories over 10 years!! If you have any memories or photos you would like to share, or know people who have previously attended the program, please let us know so we can capture those too! Stayed tuned…………
Inclement Weather:
As you all know, January can be the “deep freezer” month in Alberta. Please take note of the inclement weather brochure. Schools will remain open in the event of inclement weather, school bus services may be suspended due to adverse road or weather conditions that jeopardize the safety of students, however, schools will remain open.
Parents are not required to send their children to school if, in their judgment, weather conditions are detrimental to the safety or well-being of their children
For further information refer to AP 132 and corresponding documents: Transportation Handbook and Inclemen Weather Brochure or refer to WRPS website.
Class Start Times:
Morning: 8:45 am - 11:45 am
Afternoon: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Please arrive at 8:35 am & 12:20 in pm.
We also require that you walk your child to their cubbies & assist them in getting ready.
Illness:
We have several children who have immune compromised systems and can become quite ill if exposed to viruses. Please make sure to keep your child home until he/she is feeling better and call the school to let them know they will be away. Classroom number: 780-352-7479
If your child is a bus student you must call the bus driver to let him/her know that your child will not be on the bus. Please inform them if you are dropping off or picking up your child from the centre as well, or if there is a change in location. Phone: 352-2239
Thank you.
Seeds of Empathy
January Seeds of Empathy
This month our theme was Feeling Angry. The children read No David and When Sophie Gets Angry, Really, Really Angry in their literacy circle with Brianne and Lisa.
Baby Aylah was on holidays and was unable to come play with us. Baby Leah came to visit on Jan. 23. She has grown a lot and we learned that there are things that make her angry too. Our next visit will Feb. 13, 2012.
Heart Felt Moment: With big eyes, a huge smile and a soft whisper as Baby Leah entered the room child says, “She is soo… cute!”
